PAEP Poster - "Scent Free Pregnancy"

pstrsmilingpinkEuropean families are enjoying a measure of protection from chemicals that is unheard of here in North America since the R.E.A.C.H. program to limit the use of dangerous chemicals was instituted in 2007.   Under the EU strict regulatory law, Manufacturers are compelled to prove each chemical safe before it is permitted entry into Consumer Products.    Here in North America, lax Governments refuse to adopt the “precautionary principal” placing the burden on the Consumer to “prove proof of harm” before a product is forced into withdrawal from the marketplace.  In permitting this situation to exist, North American Governments NOT ONLY FAIL to protect our CHILDREN, but those same governments give preferential treatment to  “Healthy Profits” instead of “Healthy Progeny”.

playgroundChildren are no longer permitted to take peanuts to school but, generally speaking, they are still permitted to wear "scent" in schools - including chemical fragrances embedded in laundry detergent and fabric softeners.  Scent allergies are no laughing matter.  Allergies to "scent" can trigger asthma attacks or, worst case, an anaphylactic shock.
But Some schools are bucking the trend and have banned "scents" outright.  The reason for this is that "scents" in North America are generally composed of a soup of toxic chemicals that can cause "nausea,  vomiting, dizziness, shortness of breath, and a host of other serious adverse health effects according to research (2008) from the University of Washington conducted by Dr. Anne Steinemann.
